My mother, Margaret, was into ceramics when I was young. She had a kiln room with many plaster molds and tubs of pourable clay and a kiln with a space inside as big as a kitchen oven.
In 1955 she found a manger scene she could paint and fire. Here is the whole scene. I made the wood roof for it in 1955. We show this every Christmas.
I took this picture and cropped it to show only Mary and Joseph and Jesus. I then had the picture blown up and printed on canvas. Below is what it looked like in our front yard in 2017. I glued the canvas onto 1 inch thick foam from HD and then used our electric carving knife to cut out the background. It is held up by wood in the back.
